Insert Micromolding

Best-in-Class Insert Micromolding Equipment
A New Generation of Product Innovation for MIS Devices

Micromolding Technology
micro insert molded parts with pencil

Insert micromolding from Mikrotech utilizes best-in-class plastic injection molding equipment. Our Battenfeld Microsystem 50 plastic injection molding equipment is specifically designed for insert micromolding and has twice the precision and repeatability as conventional molding equipment. It enables Mikrotech to achieve tolerance targets on complex components that conventional molders cannot maintain and streamline the manufacturing process to create a more robust and reliable design for manufacturing.

Insert micromolding can provide excellent alternative for designing and manufacturing medical devices used in minimally invasive surgery (MIS ). MIS designers and manufacturers have difficulty creating and maintaining reliable manufacturing processes as many devices 1) use expensive machined components; 2) require highly skilled labor (artisans) using a microscope; and 3) require complex secondary operations to assemble them. These methods of manufacturing place limitations on size, complexity, material selection, production yields and profitability.

There are a number of benefits that can be achieved using insert micromolding technology for designing and manufacturing medical devices for minimally invasive surgery .

Benefits

Benefits of Utilizing Insert Micromolding for New Medical Devices

  • Create new and more innovative products
  • Establish product leadership
  • Reduce number of start-up problems
  • Provide more flexibility to design smaller more complex devices

  • Convert open surgical procedures to minimally invasive

Benefits of Utilizing Insert Micromolding for Existing Medical Devices

  • Reduce or eliminate dependency on microscope to assemble
  • Reduce or eliminate expensive machined components
  • Reduce or eliminate secondary operations
  • Increase production yields
  • Decrease manufacturing cycle time
